Digitalisation of the slope rescue service
Zermatt Bergbahnen is taking another important step towards the digitalisation of its operating processes and is focusing on a new generation of radio communication and is leading the way as an innovative industry leader with a corresponding pioneering spirit.
Reliable operational communication
In order to guarantee the highest possible level of safety for the guests in the Matterhorn paradise at all times, reliable communication is of central importance. Whether it is the technicians who keep the infrastructure running - the piste patrollers - who have to attend to an injured guest, the piste vehicle drivers - who prepare the pistes for the next day at night and in the dark, or the employees of the information centre - who often receive emergency calls from guests in the area, they all depend on reliable communication with each other.
Conversion from radio to mobile-radio network
In order to optimise the operational communication, the previous and conventional TETRA radio network of Zermatt Bergbahnen was replaced by a complete push-to-talk-over-mobile solution from Swisscom. In addition to the mobile-radio network, the employees' terminals were also renewed. The handy and extremely robust terminals are reminiscent of somewhat larger smartphones and, with the touch screen, enable new possibilities for operational communication in the area at the foot of the Matterhorn.
Digitalisation of the processes of the slope rescue service
In addition to the new mobile-radio communication, a new software for the digitalisation of the processes of the slope rescue service is being introduced at the same time. With three different modules, the daily weather assessment, the logging of the piste controls as well as the processes of the rescue service can be recorded in a tool specially tailored to our needs. This makes the processes transparent with the aim of optimal communication within the Zermatt Bergbahnen team.
