Have you ever covered 10.000 metres of elevation change in a single day’s skiing before? No? Well, now’s the time to try – take the challenge on the Matterhorn Ski Safari. The good news is that there’s no opponent: just you, your skis, Zermatt Bergbahnen and the perfectly groomed slopes.
You can use the Ski Safari function in the Skiguide Zermatt app to keep a record of the lifts and trains you have used.
The rules are simple: you don't use a lift or a cable car twice and you don't ski a piste twice. The route: You start at the Rothorn. The route continues via Riffelberg, the Theodulgletscher on Trockener Steg and on to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Those who complete the supreme discipline ski to Breuil-Cervinia and Testa Grigia. In the evening, the trail leads back to Zermatt via Stafelalp.
You only have to decide between silver or gold. The difference: with the Matterhorn Ski Safari Gold, the altitude meter counter rises to 12.500. You leave Swiss soil and collect 2000 additional altitude meters on the pistes of beautiful Italy. In addition to 24 lifts and cable cars in the Silver category, there are five more. Sounds like a record? It is!
