The journey is the destination ... No hiking trail could be truer to this motto than the gourmet trail. This relatively easy hike leads from Sunnegga, the sun terrace of Zermatt, via the idyllic hamlet of Findeln past the Leisee lake or the Wolli parc in winter, over mountain meadows or snow-covered winter landscapes to Zermatt. And it isn’t just the Matterhorn, Zermatt’s culinary scene also shows itself from its best side. Stopping off at various mountain restaurants along the way is not just a tip, it’s a must. The hike will lead you straight to Findeln’s restaurants – Paradies, Chez Vrony, Findlerhof, Adler Hitta and Othmar’s Skihütte – which have 42 Gault-Millau points between them. Although the actual walk takes only about 2.5 hours, you’ll need to allow plenty of time for stopping and tasting on the way.

Gourmet pass Findeln
The Findeln Gourmet Pass is the perfect guide in summer. Apart from the Zermatt–Sunnegga return trip, the experience features a culinary journey of discovery with a four-course menu included. The pleasure trip begins at the sunny Sunnegga station with a short trip on foot to the @Paradise restaurant to enjoy a small selection of tapas. The next station is just a short hike away: the Chez Vrony, where the starter course awaits. The highlight – the main course – is served at the Findlerhof restaurant which has received multiple awards. And as the icing on the cake you will get a sweet dessert at the Sonnmatten restaurant in the village of Zermatt.
Guests who want to take an after-dinner walk to aid their digestion can stroll down towards Zermatt, or else take the Sunnegga funicular back to the village.
